Martin Louw
Hometown: South Africa
|
PB Carp: 65.00 lbs / 29.5 kgs
Introduction and Achievements:
Martin Louw has been fishing from a very young age of which the last 13 years
have been dedicated to finding and catching South African monster Carp. Martin
holds both official and unofficial South-African Carp records with Carp of 59lbs
15 ounces & 65 pounds respectively. It is probably not unfair to say that
Martin catches more South-African monster Carp than everyone else put together
and have appeared numerous times on the cover of our top angling magazines The
Bank Angler & Tight Lines Many years of experience as a host & guide
to international clients seems most relevant to mention here.
Current Projects: Martins life is dedicated to everything Carp related. There
are very few waters currently in South Africa where big Carp is being protected,
in most public waters the angler is allowed to remove the Carp and do with it
what he pleases hence a constant battle with authorities and fellow anglers to
educate them in the principles of Carp preservation and management of waters and
our precious fish. Martin writes a monthly article in the Bank Angler
regarding these issues as well as educating fellow anglers on how to safely fish
for big Carp, the result is staggering, the amount of anglers converting from
traditional methods to European methods are skyrocketing which is great news for
our fish. Currently a DVD is being made named The ultimate quest for a world
record. The name says it all.
Most of Martins time is going into establishing African Big Carp Holidays as
the no1 Adventure Carp holiday company in South Africa. Previous occasions saw
Martin fishing alongside UK Legends such as Steve Briggs, Simon Crow & Rob
Hughes to name a few. I believe Simon Crow still refers to that trip as one of
his most memorable fishing trips ever. Martin took a break from Carping holidays
for a few years and dedicated his time to fishing and searching for good venues
& South Africas Monster Carp. Now he is back in business, be prepared for
professional Carping holidays that cannot be equaled.. Period!
